Era Gymnastics Team Programs

Era Gymnastics is proud to offer several excellent competitive gymnastics experiences for athletes ages 5-18. Our team athletes have a healthy gymnastics/life balance and train year-round. Athletes in the Era Team programs compete both locally and across the country. Era athletes are instilled with great work habits, team-building skills, a love for the sport, and life-long friendships.

How do I become a Era Team Gymnast?

Team positions are by invitation only. Every gymnast at Era is considered a candidate for a potential team spot. Athletes are observed discreetly throughout their time at Era to best assess their readiness for the higher levels of competition. Strength, flexibility, and listening skills are some of (but not all) of the important characteristics we consider for team candidacy. Athletes must be enrolled in classes in order to be considered for team spots. We will contact you if your gymnast is the best candidate for an open team position.

We host team tryouts once a year that are invite only.

What team levels are offered at Era?

  • Pre-Team: Approximate Ages 5-9 Athletes in the Pre-Team program are introduced to the structure of team gymnastics through event coaching, strength training and flexibility training. This group has the potential to compete if they achieve all the necessary skills with correct form, have a great work ethic and have great listening skills.

  • Xcel Program: This program follows the Xcel Program rules and policies set by USA Gymnastics. At Era, we offer levels Bronze -Diamond.

  • Development Program: Age 7-18 This program follows the Development Program rules and policies set by USA Gymnastics. At Era, we currently offer levels 4-6 but will continue to offer more levels as our gymnasts progress.

Xcel Team

The Xcel program is an alternative to the Developmental Program and introduces the athletes to a basic level of the optional program. At Era our Xcel program focuses on instilling a love of gymnastics, team camaraderie and dedication all while allowing the athlete to work out a limited number of hours.

Bronze and Silver Teams: The athletes on these teams compete at 4-6 competitions a year. The athletes have choreographed routines on all four events and work on skills from backward rolls to back handsprings. The teams work out 4-6 hours per week.

Gold/Platinum/Diamond Teams: The athletes compete in 5-10 competitions a year. The athletes have choreographed routines on all four events with increased skill level. The teams work out 8-12 hours a week.

Our Xcel Team has tryouts once a year that are invite only based off of biyearly skill reviews.

Developmental Team

The Developmental Program (formerly Junior Olympic) is a more serious time and financial commitment to gymnastics. Athletes are required to train significantly more, which allows them to progress faster, while also developing greater strength, flexibility and technique. Foundational work in levels 4/5 (compulsories) leads to higher levels of success in levels 6-10 (optionals). We value each athlete and the work they put in to reach these goals and the success they seek!

COMPULSORIES (LVL 4/5) - 12 hours per week

OPTIONALS (LVL 6-10) - 12 - 20 hours per week

What else is involved?

All team athletes attend 5-8 competitions each year. Qualifying athletes attend state competitions for all levels, with regional competitions for qualifying advanced level athletes. Qualifications for state meets are based on scores achieved throughout the regular gymnastics season, and qualifications for regionals are based on state scores.

Our Developmental Team has tryouts once a year that are invite only based off of biyearly skill reviews.
